"People often ask how I differ from other designers.
I believe it is my versatility and sensitivity to fulfilling
the needs of my clients in the most timely and cost effective
way possible."
Everyone's at home with Arthur.
Arthur McLaughlin was born into his profession having
grown up in a family whose business was buying, renovating and
re-selling homes. Early in his career, Arthur worked with James
Northcut of the prestigious Los Angeles design firm of James Northcut & Associates.
Here he gained valuable experience working with Mr. Northcut, overseeing
such projects as the Bel Air Hotel and the Mansion at Turtle Creek
in Dallas.
Arthur also worked with Daphne Thrasher Interior
Design in Los Angeles where he was exposed to an elite clientele.
It was here that he began to develop his personal style of design.
With passion for his work and an entrepreneurial
spirit, Arthur founded his own firm, renovating and re-selling
a number of properties in the Sherman Oaks and Hancock Park Areas.
Arthur also worked on projects for such Hollywood
celebrities as Gavin McCloud, Mitzy Gaynor and John Riley and was
part of a design team that created sets for Paramount Studios'
television specials.
At this time, Arthur was commissioned to "stage" several
private residences in San Francisco. He found the charm and sophistication
of the City so irresistible that he relocated his business here
in 1982. Arthur now focuses his attention on staging and private
interior design with clients in San Francisco, Ross, Piedmont,
Orinda and Hillsborough.
"Each neighborhood in the Bay Area provides
a unique and exciting challenge. I am fascinated by the diversity
in architecture, from San Francisco's stately Victorians, marina
style homes and penthouse condos, to Old World craftsmanship
of the Piedmont and Ross estates."
